Nike golfer Anthony Kim showed no signs of a Ryder Cup hangover as he took a four-shot lead on the opening day of the Tour Championship at East Lake.
One of the stars of the US victory at Valhalla last week, Kim hit eight birdies on the way to a six-under-par 64 at the Atlanta course.
The 23-year-old''s performance was made even more impressive by the fact that only six players managed scores of par or under, with the breezy conditions and East Lake''s renovated greens causing problems for much of the field.
Kim is one of nine members of the victorious American Ryder Cup side playing in this week''s tournament, with his team-mate Phil Mickelson also starting well.
On two under par, the Callaway golfer shares second place with Ernie Els and Trevor Immelman after hitting a 68 on the first day in Atlanta.
KJ Choi finished one-under, while Sergio Garcia and Mike Weir shot level-par 70s.
Cleveland golfer Vijay Singh needs only to complete all four rounds at East Lake to secure the FedEx Cup, but the Fijian endured a torrid opening and his four early bogeys saw him finish nine strokes off the lead with a 73.
