Paul McGinley has admitted that he will find it difficult to watch the Ryder Cup this month after failing to clinch a place in Nick Faldo''s side.
The Irishman played on the last three victorious European teams and famously holed the winning putt in his rookie appearance at The Belfry in 2002, but has struggled to find his form this season.
Speaking to Sky Sports News this week, McGinley said that he will find the event at Valhalla "tough to watch".
"[I have] very mixed feelings, its tough. It''s 1999 since I last watched one on TV," the 41-year-old said.
"But I didn''t play well enough so I can''t complain."
He added that the biggest challenge for Faldo will be choosing the best pairings, as several of the successful partnerships from recent years will not be available to the captain.
Currently ranked 86th in the world, McGinley finished as runner-up to Darren Clarke at the KLM Open last month.
