Garcia to host tournament in Spain

TaylorMade golfer Sergio Garcia has announced plans to host a tournament at his home course in southern Spain next month.

Several top twenty players have been confirmed for the Castello Masters, which begins at the Costa Azahar''s Club de Campo del Mediterraneo on October 23rd.

Hosting the event alongside his father Victor, world number five Garcia will be joined in the field by Srixon golfer Henrik Stenson, the world number six, as well as TaylorMade''s Justin Rose.

Also confirmed for the tournament, which carries a prize pool of €2 million (£1.63 million) are Cobra player Camilo Villegas and Ping''s Angel Cabrera, the 2007 US Open champion.

Along with Stenson and Rose, Garcia is a member of Nick Faldo''s European team for this month''s Ryder Cup in Kentucky.

The 28-year-old Spaniard will be making his fifth appearance in the biennial team competition. His debut came at Brookline in 1999 - the last time Europe failed to beat the US.
