A four-under-par 67 saw TaylorMade golfer Mike Weir top the leaderboard after round three of the Deutsche Bank Championship yesterday.
On 17 under, the Canadian leads the field by one stroke from Cobra''s Camilo Villegas, who carded a 63 in his third round at TPC Norton.
TaylorMade''s Sergio Garcia and Cleveland golfer Vijay Singh also managed good rounds despite strong winds at the Massachusetts course, with the former shooting a 68 to close on 14 under par.
Singh''s 69 saw him match the Spaniard''s score and the two players currently share third place, with Callaway golfer Ernie Els, Srixon''s Jim Furyk and Ben Crane a further shot behind.
The tournament is the second playoff event of the FedEx Cup - last week''s Barclays in New Jersey was won by Singh, who beat Garcia and Kevin Sutherland in a three-way playoff.
World number two Phil Mickelson missed the cut at TPC Norton, meaning the Callaway golfer is a doubt for the third FedEx Cup event in St Louis next week.
