Yonex golfer Colin Montgomerie has not given up hope of earning a wildcard entry for next month''s Ryder Cup at Valhalla.
The Scotsman has been an ever-present at the biennial team competition since 1991, but his chances of making the European side this year have been severely damaged by a run of miserable form.
However, speaking at Gleneagles yesterday, Monty reminded reporters of his Ryder Cup pedigree and claimed that he feels "confident" of impressing team captain Nick Faldo at this week''s Johnnie Walker Championship.
"Hopefully I''m past the stage of justifying my Ryder Cup potential," the 45-year-old stated.
"Everybody - and I''m sure I speak for the Ryder Cup captain as well - understands my love for the Ryder Cup. It''s how I''ll be remembered if you like."
The tournament at Gleneagles represents Monty''s last chance to stake a claim for inclusion in Faldo''s side, as the captain will announce his wildcard selections after the final round on Sunday.
