Jesper Parnevik has claimed that Yonex golfer Colin Montgomerie is still deserving of a place in the Ryder Cup team, despite his poor form this season.
The Swede, who has played alongside Montgomerie at three Ryder Cups, said that the Scotsman''s experience could be invaluable for European captain Nick Faldo at Valhalla next month.
However, the 45-year-old missed the cut at the US PGA Championship recently and has now failed to break 70 in his last 11 rounds in competitive events.
"It''s not easy for Faldo with Monty not playing so great the last couple of months," Parnevik admitted.
"But some guys thrive in the Ryder Cup and some guys don''t
I think I would have Monty there," he added.
This week''s Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles represents Montgomerie''s last chance to impress Faldo, as the skipper is due to announce his two wildcard picks immediately after the tournament.
