A golf writer has claimed that Darren Clarke and Nike player Paul Casey should be Nick Faldo''s two wildcard choices for the European Ryder Cup team.
The captain is due to announce his selections on Sunday night, by which time the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles will have finished and players will not be able to amass any more qualifying points.
However, Clarke and Casey have already done enough to convince BBC Sport''s Iain Carter of their suitability for the Ryder Cup side.
Casey has performed consistently in the US in recent weeks and his aggressive style is known to be suited to matchplay golf, while Clarke produced a sparkling display to win the KLM Open last week.
The golf correspondent also stated that Clarke''s "stellar Ryder Cup record" would make him a useful addition to the team for next month''s transatlantic showdown at Valhalla.
Following his win in Holland, the Northern Irishman revealed that his good form has been motivated by wanting to break back into the top 50, as well as making the Ryder Cup.
Clarke''s ranking rose from 90th to 56th after victory at the KLM Open.
