Clarke "desperate" to make Ryder Cup

Darren Clarke has admitted that he needs to find his best form over the next ten days to stand a chance of playing in next month''s Ryder Cup.

A veteran of the last five European sides, the Northern Irishman is unable to qualify automatically this year and will rely on one of two wildcard picks from captain Nick Faldo.

Speaking ahead of the KLM Open in Holland, Clarke revealed that impressing Faldo is at the forefront of his mind for this week''s tournament.

"I am desperate to make it," he told BBC Sport.

"But if I do not play well these two weeks I would have no complaints if I did not get picked."

Clarke is one of several players with Ryder Cup experience hoping to receive a wildcard for Valhalla next month, with Yonex golfer Colin Montogomerie and Nike''s Paul Casey also in the frame.

His one win on the European Tour this season came at the Asian Open in April.
