This week''s KLM Open in Zandvoort is set to be hugely important for a number of players targeting a spot in Nick Faldo''s Ryder Cup team.
Current points standings suggest that the top seven players are already guaranteed a place in the side for Valhalla, leaving three automatic qualifying spots still available.
In Holland this week, Taylormade''s Justin Rose, Mizuno player Soren Kjeldsen, Callaway golfers Oliver Wilson and Nick Dougherty and Titleist players Soren Hansen, Martin Kaymer and Ross Fisher will all attempt to launch a late charge for the top ten.
As the European Tour website states, "it promises to be an intriguing week of golf", because there is only one more tournament after the KLM Open which counts towards Ryder Cup qualification.
Fisher is likely to be particularly confident - he won the Dutch tournament by a single stroke 12 months ago and added the European Open title in July.
Nike golfer Paul Casey has opted to remain in the US as he chases a Ryder Cup spot. The 31-year-old will play in the Barclays tournament in New Jersey this week.
