Ochoa starts defence with 66 in Canada

World number one Lorena Ochoa leads Annika Sorenstam by a single stroke after the first day of the Canadian Women''s Open in Ontario.

The Mexican began the defence of her 2007 title with a bogey-free round of 66 at Ottawa Hunt, while Sorenstam hit eight birdies and three bogeys to finish five under par.

Four players currently sit two shots off the lead on four under par, with American Nicola Castrale joining South Korean trio Se Ri Pak, Meena Lee and Hee-Won Han.

Commenting on her near-flawless round, Ochoa said afterwards: "I probably hit 18 greens and I don''t remember chipping, so that was good.

"It always feels good when you have no bogeys on your scorecard."

Ochoa, who took over from Sorenstam as world number one in April 2007, is seeking her seventh victory of the season but has not won a tournament in three months.

Sorenstam is set to retire from the LPGA Tour at the end of the year and is also without a victory since May.
