Michelle Wie returns to the LPGA Tour this week knowing that she requires a good performance to secure her card for next year.
The 18-year-old Hawaiian entered a PGA Tour event in Nevada earlier this month and again failed to make the cut, drawing criticism from some of her female peers.
Now back in the women''s game, Wie tees off at the Canadian Women''s Open today in search of a strong finish to avoid having to qualify for the LPGA Tour next season.
The top 80 players on the money list are awarded a tour card automatically, but Wie is currently about $84,000 adrift of Moira Dunn in 81st place.
Asked about the prospect of heading to qualifying school for next season, she said this week: "I''m not going to think about the future right now."
Wie was disqualified from last month''s State Farm Classic after failing to sign her second-round scorecard.
Nine of the world''s top ten players are in the field at Ottawa Hunt this week, including world number one Lorena Ochoa.
