Callaway golfer Ernie Els has said that he is excited by the possibility of winning the US PGA Championship this week.
The South African, who has been paired with Fred Couples and Titleist''s Adam Scott for the opening round, said that many players will be targeting victory at Oakland Hills in the absence of Nike golfer Tiger Woods.
With the 2007 champion sidelined following knee surgery, Els believes that this year''s winner will be a lot harder to predict.
"I feel it''s exciting times
It''s an opportunity for a lot of guys," the three-time Major winner said.
Commenting on his own chances, Els added: "I''ve got a very good feel about the golf course. My swing is in pretty good shape and I feel excited about this week."
The Big Easy''s last win on the PGA Tour came at the Honda Classic in March, when he beat Mizuno player Luke Donald by one stroke. He has not won a Major since clinching the 2002 Open Championship at Muirfield.
