Perry hopes to cap "dream season" with Major win

Taylormade golfer Kenny Perry is hoping that he manages to maintain his recent run of form on the big stage at the US PGA Championship this week.

The Kentuckian has already won three tournaments in what has arguably been a career-best season, cementing his place in the US Ryder Cup team and rising to second on the PGA Tour money list in the process.

Looking back over his "dream season" this week, Perry said that clinching a first Major title at Oakland Hills on Sunday - his 48th birthday - would be the perfect way to prepare for September''s Ryder Cup.

He added: "For the past three months, I putted better than I ever putted in my life."

"If I putt somewhere near like I putted this summer, I''ve got a great shot this week."

Perry''s best finish at a Major came at the PGA Championship in 1996, when he came second after losing to Mark Brooks in a playoff. That tournament was held at Valhalla in Kentucky, where this year''s Ryder Cup begins on September 19th.
