Wilson''s Padraig Harrington has predicted that a European player will triumph at this week''s US PGA Championship in Michigan.
A golfer from this side of the pond has not won the event since Scottish-born Tommy Armour''s victory in 1930, but Irishman Harrington believes that memories of the 2004 Ryder Cup could inspire a European winner this year.
Oakland Hills provided the venue for that event, with several members of the victorious European team returning to the course this week.
"It''s an advantage to anybody who''s played a tournament of that intensity," the two-time Open champion said.
Players such as Taylormade golfer Sergio Garcia, Ping''s Lee Westwood, Nike player Paul Casey and Srixon''s Miguel Angel Jimenez took part in 2004 and are all in the field at Oakland Hills this week.
Harrington has been paired with Nike golfer Trevor Immelman and Ping player Angel Cabrera for the final Major of the season.
Immelman claimed his first Major victory at the Masters earlier this year, while Cabrera won the US Open in 2007.
