Wie to play in German Open
Lorena Ochoa marked her return to the LPGA Tour with a first round of 67 at the Evian Masters yesterday.
The world number one''s seven-under-par score sees her top the leaderboard after the opening day in France, with Taiwan''s Candie Kung, Brazilian Angela Park and Sun-Ju Ahn of South Korea one shot behind.
Ochoa has had several weeks away from competitive golf recently but again demonstrated why she has dominated the female game in 2008, coolly carding seven birdies in the sweltering heat of Evian-les-Bains.
"I''m glad to be at the top and I''m really happy with my position," the 26-year-old Mexican said afterwards.
She added: "It''s good to be back after the break - I needed to recharge the batteries."
Ochoa is looking to win the French tournament in preparation for the Women''s British Open at Sunningdale next week, when she will attempt to defend the title she won last year at St Andrews.
