Wilson golfer Padraig Harrington expressed satisfaction with his first round at the Open Championship yesterday after contending with a wrist injury and the wild weather at Royal Birkdale.
The defending champion carded a respectable 74 to remain in contention, despite a painful wrist which almost caused him to pull out of the event on several occasions.
Harrington told BBC Sport afterwards that he expects the injury to improve as the tournament progresses, while also revealing that the tough conditions at Royal Birkdale had helped to take his mind off his troublesome wrist.
"The injury should be better again on Friday so I''m quite happy," the 36-year-old Irishman said.
"A bad day helped, as there was not time at all to think about anything but your next shot and trying to get the club dry and hitting it."
Justin Rose also carded a 74 on the course which saw him burst onto the world golf scene ten years ago. The Taylormade golfer finished fourth at the Open as a 17-year-old amateur in 1998.
