An International Golf Federation (IGF) committee will bring the world''s major golf bodies together in an attempt to have the sport included in the 2016 Olympics.
Following the failure to add golf to the 2012 games in London, the IGF has altered its structure and is preparing a detailed bid to present to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Led by the PGA Tour''s Ty Votaw, the IGF''s committee will include representatives from the R&A, USGA, LPGA, PGA Tour, European Tour, Augusta National and the PGA of America, with R&A chief executive Peter Dawson claiming that the golf world was now "speaking with one voice".
He stated: "There''s much to be done, but we''re putting together the right organisation to get the job done."
The IOC is yet to decide whether the 2016 Olympics will be held in Tokyo, Madrid, Chicago or Rio de Janeiro.
Justin Rose voiced his support for golf at the Olympics earlier this week. The Taylormade golfer, who is currently taking part in the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, said that the inclusion of the sport would be "fantastic".
