Europe''s Ryder Cup captain Nick Faldo has admitted he does not expect Luke Donald to be in his team to face the US at Valhalla in September.
In normal circumstances Mizuno professional Donald - who has won 5.5 points from a possible seven on his two Ryder Cup appearances - would be a key member of the European line-up.
However, he has not played since suffering a wrist injury at the US Open and medical specialists have advised him to rest for another three to four weeks before attempting a comeback.
Donald has not done enough to secure automatic qualification for the Ryder Cup and Faldo thinks it is unlikely he will be able to justify making his countryman one of his two captain''s picks.
"To try and rush a wrist injury is hard, you can''t rush a wrist injury, plus the fact he''s outside the team right now makes it hard," Europe''s most successful ever Ryder Cup player told the Guardian.
Faldo''s team is finally starting to take shape, but Paul Casey, Padraig Harrington, Ian Poulter and Colin Montgomerie all appear likely to have to rely on being a captain''s selection. |
