Perry wins again

Kenny Perry secured his third title of the season with a playoff victory in the John Deere Classic on Sunday.

The TaylorMade professional finished the four rounds at the TPC Deere Run tied with Brad Adamonis and Jay Williamson on 16 under.

His less experienced opponents both appeared to struggle with the pressure of the playoff and hit approach shots into the water at the first extra hole.

Perry stayed calm and carded a regulation par to secure the $756,000 (£380,000) first prize.

The win also saw Perry move above Phil Mickelson into second place in the FedEx Cup standings.

He now has a realistic chance of ending the season as the top player on the PGA Tour, as leader Tiger Woods will not play again in 2008 because of a knee injury.

Despite his recent good form, Perry has decided not to attempt to win his first Major at this week''s Open Championship and will instead play in the US Bank Championship in Milwaukee.ADNFCR-1571-ID-18682057-ADNFCR
