Anthony Kim is closing in on a place in the world''s top ten after winning the $1.08 million (£545,000) first prize at the AT&T National last weekend.
The victory was Nike professional Kim''s second of the year following his success in the Wachovia Championship in May and saw him climb to fifth in the FedEx Cup standings and to within touching distance of a place on the US Ryder Cup team.
It was also enough for the 23-year-old Californian to rise from 20th to 14th when the new world rankings were announced on Monday.
Ross Fisher also shot up the table after racing clear of a top-class field to win the European Open by seven shots.
The Englishman climbed 47 places to 57th, meaning he is now ahead of such high-profile players as Yonex professional Colin Montgomerie, TaylorMade golfer David Toms and Northern Ireland''s Graeme McDowell.
Tiger Woods remains world number one, despite being sidelined by a knee injury, ahead of Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott. |
