Donald withdraws from Loch Lomond event

Mizuno professional Luke Donald has postponed his comeback from the wrist injury he sustained at the US Open last month.

The Englishman was expected to return to action in this week''s Scottish Open at Loch Lomond but his medical advisors have recommended a further period of rest.

A spokesman for Donald explained: "Luke''s been speaking to specialists and is almost ready to resume playing, but as a precautionary measure he''s going to give it one more week."

It is not yet clear whether Donald''s participation in the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale is in doubt or whether his latest withdrawal is designed to ensure he is fit to play in the third Major of the season.

One man sure to be concerned about the 30-year-old''s fitness is Europe''s Ryder Cup captain Nick Faldo.

Donald is expected to be a key player at Valhalla in September, but the injury layoff has seen him slip down the qualification table and he may now have to rely on being a captain''s pick.ADNFCR-1571-ID-18673464-ADNFCR
