Kim triumphs at the Congressional

Anthony Kim continued his impressive second full season on the PGA Tour by claiming victory in the AT&T National at the Congressional Country Club, Bethseda on Sunday.

The 23-year-old began the final day tied for sixth, but proceeded to shoot a five under par 65 to win by two shots from Sweden''s Fredrik Jacobson.

It was Kim''s second victory of the year, following his success in the Wachovia Championship in May, and earned him a $1.08 million (£545,000) cheque.

The money helped the Californian to consolidate his top-ten position in the FedEx Cup standings and put him within sight of a place on the US Ryder Cup team.

Srixon professional Jim Furyk - another player close to securing a spot on Paul Azinger''s team for the eagerly-awaited September clash at Valhalla - finished tied for third, along with Dean Wilson, Tommy Armour III and Australian trio Rod Pampling, Robert Allenby and Nick O''Hern.

The leader at the start of the last day Tom Pernice Jr finished in ninth after he could only shoot 72.ADNFCR-1571-ID-18670896-ADNFCR
