Paul Goydos and Jeff Overton booked their places in the Open Championship by winning Monday''s International Final Qualifying events in the US.
Goydos, who has already won more than $1.3 million (£650,000) on the PGA Tour this year, shot a 13-under par total of 131 in the 36-hole tournament at Dearborn, Michigan.
That gave him a two-shot advantage over Michael Letzig, while Doug Labelle II, Callaway professional Rich Beem, Craig Barlow, Kevin Stadler and former USPGA champion Davis Love III also qualified for the Major at Royal Birkdale later this month.
In the other 36-hole qualifier at TPC, Michigan, Overton finished on 14 under to win by six shots from John Rollins.
Tim Petrovic, Matt Kuchar, Alex Cjeka, Scott McCarron and Thomas Gillis also made it through.
However, several well known players missed out, including 1995 USPGA champion Steve Elkington, former US Ryder Cup player Jeff Maggert and 1994 Open Championship runner-up Jesper Parnevick. |
