Taylormade golfer Kenny Perry shot a final round of 66 to finish nineteen under par and win the Buick Open for the second time in his career yesterday.
A champion at the Michigan event in 2003, the 47-year-old took advantage of missed putts from fellow Americans Bubba Watson and Woody Austin to top the leaderboard by one shot at Warwick Hills.
The win is also Perry''s second of the season following his success at the Memorial Tournament at the start of June, with the Kentucky-born player now almost certain of a place in the US Ryder Cup team.
"I''m ecstatic. It really won''t sink in until I''m actually putting on the red, white and blue," Perry told reporters afterwards.
The victory made him the oldest ever Buick Open champion and takes his PGA Tour win-count to 11.
Callaway golfer Rocco Mediate, runner-up at the US Open earlier this month, finished tied for 28th on 11 under par. Ping''s Daniel Chopra, who led after the third round, dropped to joint-17th after hitting bogeys on four of the first seven holes during his final round.
