Lee Westwood will look to maintain the form he showed at Torrey Pines recently when he returns to the European Tour for this week''s French Open.
The Ping golfer finished third in California after leading the US Open with nine holes to go, eventually missing out on a playoff with Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate by one shot.
Despite that disappointment, Westwood insisted this week that his near-miss will benefit the rest of his season, starting at Le Golf National in Versailles tomorrow.
"Given the way I played at Torrey Pines, I feel a lot more confident in myself," the 35-year-old Englishman said.
"I''m ready for the French Open and looking forward to the coming weeks on the way to Royal Birkdale, especially now that I have wrapped up my Ryder Cup spot so early in the season," he added.
Westwood tops the European Ryder Cup points list and revealed that he is now targeting first place on the Order of Merit, where he currently trails Miguel Angel Jimenez and Robert Karlsson.
Both those players are also in the field in France, as is last week''s BMW International Open winner Martin Kaymer.
