Donald and Olazabal to miss French Open

Mizuno golfer Luke Donald and Macgregor player Jose Maria Olazabal will both be absent from this week''s French Open.

Donald is still struggling with the wrist injury which forced him to pull out of the US Open earlier this month, while Olazabal has been suffering from fatigue brought on by his ongoing battle with rheumatism.

The 42-year-old Spaniard has not played since the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in May, when he missed the cut and told reporters: "I am not myself and I don''t know what to do."

Commenting on his decision to withdraw from the French Open, Olazabal''s manager Sergio Gomez said: "I''ve told him he should stop playing until he has regained his strength."

Cobra''s Ian Poulter is expected to take part in the European Tour event in Paris, despite also suffering with a wrist problem at Torrey Pines recently. Donald''s injury is thought to be more serious and could rule him out of the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale next month.
