Italians relax with round of golf at Euro 2008

Members of the Italian football squad took part in a game of golf yesterday to celebrate their passage into the Euro 2008 quarter-finals.

Italy beat France 2-0 in Zurich on Tuesday night to book a spot in the tournament''s last eight, where they will face Group D winners Spain.

With the team hotel situated close to the Fontana Golf Club, coach Roberto Donadoni decided to give his squad the day off yesterday and head to the golf course, with several players joining him for a game.

According to the Associated Press, Donadoni played in a threesome with goalkeeping coach Ivano Bordon and physician Andrea Ferretti, with striker Alessandro del Piero and midfielder Mauro Camorensi making up another group.

The Fontana Golf Club recently hosted the Bank Austria Open, which Jeev Milkha Singh won by a single shot after making par on all 18 holes during the final day.

Italy play Spain in Vienna on Sunday night.
