Mizuno golfer Luke Donald and Cobra player Ian Poulter have both pulled out of the BMW International Open, which begins in Munich today.
Donald was forced to retire with a wrist injury during his final round at the US Open last week and has visited a specialist in an attempt to rectify the problem before next month''s Open at Royal Birkdale.
Poulter is believed to have a similar problem after he left on the second day at Torrey Pines, apparently suffering from pain in his right wrist.
"Ian''s been having problems with ligaments in his wrist for about 18 months," explained his manager Paul Dunkley.
Commenting on Poulter''s experience at the US Open, he added: "It flared up again in practice and his driving stats showed that he wasn''t able to hit at full power and it only got worse when he went in the rough."
The 32-year-old was 14 over par when he quit at the 15th hole at Torrey Pines last Friday.
Despite the withdrawals, the BMW International field remains strong, with defending champion Niclas Fasth, recent BMW PGA Championship winner Miguel Angel Jimenez and Colin Montgomerie all heading to Germany for the event.
