Donald Trump ignored advice from an ecologist concerning his proposed golf resort on the east coast of Scotland, it has been suggested.
Giving evidence to development inquiry in Aberdeen this week, Tom Dargie claimed he informed the Trump Organisation that building a golf course on sand dunes in the area could have negative consequences for the local environment.
Designated as a site of special scientific interest, the sand dune area is the main cause of controversy surrounding the Menie Estate development.
However, Mr Trump himself gave evidence to the inquiry last week and said that Mr Dargie was a "big fan" of the resort plans, according to the Aberdeen Press and Journal.
When quizzed about this claim yesterday, Mr Dargie argued that a process of careful "mitigation" could eventually improve "habitat conditions" on the site.
Now in its sixth day, the inquiry earlier heard from coastal geomorphologist Professor William Richie, who also said that constructing the golf course would impact negatively on the area, the Independent reports.
