Plans for a £1 billion golf resort on the Aberdeenshire coast represent a high-risk venture for the Trump Organisation, it has been claimed.
Speaking at the inquiry into the development yesterday, financial expert Iain Webster said that Donald Trump intends to plough about £12 million of his personal fortune into the project, the Scotsman reports.
In addition, the organisation would spend in the region of £600 million on the resort over five years before generating any income, Mr Webster said.
He explained: "I am aware that what [Mr Trump] is planning to do is to fund the golf course development with his own money. That is the equity that is going into the business.
"I regard it as a relatively high-risk project. This is one of the largest capital projects I have ever seen."
Mr Webster is head of corporate finance at accounting firm Johnston Carmichael and was hired by the Trump Organisation to conduct a financial review of the proposed Menie Estate golf development.
Several groups have opposed the project, claiming it will endanger an environmentally-sensitive area of the Scottish coastline.
