An opening round of 65 saw Cleveland golfer Boo Weekley top the leaderboard on the first day at the Stanford St Jude Championship.
Weekley appeared determined to make amends for missing the cut at the Memorial Tournament last week, hitting six birdies on his way to a five-under-par round at TPC Southwind in Memphis.
A first round of 66 saw Tommy Armour III take second place in the final PGA Tour event before the US Open, while Vijay Singh is third on three under par.
Speaking after the opening day''s play, Weekley expressed satisfaction with his performance and described his putting as "excellent".
"I drove the ball well today for a change and my irons were superb," the 34-year-old said.
A group of seven players, including Sergio Garcia, Davis Love III and Stuart Appleby, are tied for fourth place at the Tennessee tournament.
Weekley clinched his second PGA Tour title in April this year at the Verizon Heritage in South Carolina.
