Taylormade golfer David Toms is hoping to repair his injury-ravaged season at the Stanford St Jude Championship this week.
A back problem has kept the 41-year-old winner out of contention in many events this year, but his good record at the Tennessee tournament could inspire a return to the kind of form that saw him win the PGA Championship in 2001.
Toms was crowned champion at the St Jude in 2003 and 2004 he has never finished lower than tied for tenth at his last six appearances and said this week he has "good memories" of Memphis'' TPC Southwind.
"I''ve had success here before and won a couple times. I''ve always felt very comfortable playing this golf course," he stated.
Toms joins a strong field at the PGA Tour''s last stop before the US Open, with world number ten Vijay Singh, recent Players Championship winner Sergio Garcia and 2008 Masters champion Trevor Immelman all competing.
Kenny Perry, the winner of last week''s Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village, will also take part as he continues his bid to make the US Ryder Cup team.
