Nick Faldo has backed Colin Montgomerie to feature at the Ryder Cup this year, despite the Scotsman''s indifferent form so far this season.
The Yonex player has slumped to 90th in the world rankings and currently sits 34th in the European points table for the Ryder Cup, which begins in Kentucky on September 19th.
As European captain, Faldo has two wildcard picks as well as the ten automatic selections to make his team, with the period immediately following The Open in July likely to be a crucial time for many Ryder Cup hopefuls.
Speaking ahead of the PGA Championship at Wentworth this week, Faldo said: "Monty will turn it around.
"In theory, a player of his ability has enough time to make it happen."
Playing at the Irish Open last week, Montgomerie complained that the game of golf has "got too slow" after his first two rounds at Adare Manor each lasted about five hours.
