Trump makes ''green changes'' to golf plan

Donald Trump will make alterations to his proposal for a major new golf resort in Scotland in light of environmental concerns, it has emerged.

According to the Scotsman, the Trump Organisation has submitted a revised plan for the Aberdeenshire golf complex taking into account the Menie Estate''s sand dunes, which have been designated a site of special scientific interest (SSSI).

The proposed development has been unpopular with environmental campaigners since it emerged that 20 hectares of the 203-hectare SSSI area would be incorporated in the golf course.

George Sorial of the Trump Organisation said: "We have previously stated 90 per cent of the SSSI will remain untouched by our development and this remains the case.

"Our amended indicative plans demonstrate we have significantly reduced the amount of stabilisation required, therefore reducing the impact on the SSSI."

However, groups such as the RSPB have claimed that the new plan represents a token gesture rather than significant change.

If given the green light, the Menie Estate resort will include two championship-calibre golf courses and a five-star hotel.
