Irish Open returns to Adare Manor

The Irish Open returns to the Adare Manor Hotel and Golf Resort for the second consecutive year between May 15th and 18th.

A number of the top European professionals will be taking part, including three-time winner Colin Montgomerie and Wilson golfer Padraig Harrington, who won the event in 2007.

Ping''s Lee Westwood is one of the favourites to challenge Harrington for the tournament crown this time around. In total, there are 73 previous European Tour champions lining up to play.

In comments made earlier this week, the 36-year-old title holder said that winning last year''s open was "ever so big" for him.

"As it turned out, the Irish Open victory meant more than even I realised at the time," said the 36-year-old.

He added that his 2007 victory caused him a mixture of "relief" and "euphoria", as he became the first Irishman to win the competition in 25 years.
