Titleist golfer Paul Goydos was pleased with his performance at the Players Championship in Florida, despite missing out on the title in a playoff with Spain''s Sergio Garcia.
Commenting after the tournament, the US player admitted that "he couldn''t tackle the little guy" as Garcia became the first European since 1987 to win the Sawgrass event.
Goydos hit the water in the playoff at the notoriously tricky 17th hole, while his rival held his nerve to record his first victory since 2005.
Indeed, PGAtour.com describes the hole as one of the most-famous in golf and one that often causes players trouble due to the windy conditions and island green.
"Instead of the shot Sergio hit in the playoff, people may talk about how Goydos hit it in the water, blah, blah, blah, but Sergio hit it two feet. I got beat - that''s golf," said the 43-year-old Californian.
People will have noticed that playing good golf does not necessarily mean a golfer will win a tournament, he added.
