Annika Sorenstam finished seven shots ahead of the pack to clinch her 72nd LPGA Tour title at the Michelob Ultra Open yesterday.
The Swedish player''s final round of 66 and 19-under-par finish saw her set a tournament record in Williamsburg and claim her third victory of 2008.
Sorenstam is attempting to regain the number one spot in the world rankings from Mexican Lorena Ochoa, who finished in joint 12th place in Virginia after hitting a final round of 70.
"Getting back to number one is going to be very tough because Lorena is paying so well, but I''m just enjoying winning again and I''ll just take each tournament as it comes," she told BBC Sport afterwards.
The 37-year-old suffered with neck and back injuries last year but her dominant performance in Williamsburg suggests she could now be back to her best. Her last Major triumph came at the US Women''s Open in 2006.
English player Karen Stupples was tied for second place after finishing 12 under par.
