Darren Clarke is hoping to take part in this year''s Ryder Cup following his emotional triumph at the Asian Open last week.
The win in Shanghai was the Northern Irish player''s first victory since losing his wife to cancer in 2006 and he is now looking to play a major role for Nick Faldo''s European side this September, BBC Sport reports.
Clarke is playing at the Spanish Open in Seville this week and the 39-year-old said that he has "come through the other side" by clinching the Asian Open title.
He added: "This win has given me a great boost for the Ryder Cup.
"There is some way to go yet but if I keep up my work ethic I have a chance."
Yonex golfer Colin Montgomerie is also playing in the Spanish tournament and will hope to boost his Ryder Cup standing with a good performance.
The recently-married Scotsman failed to qualify for the Masters earlier this year and has said that he needs two wins in the next two months to get back into contention for Faldo''s team.
