The latest version of the popular Europe''s Top 1,000 Golf Courses guidebook has been released by Peugeot.
Described as "the definitive guide to playing golf in Europe" by Nick Faldo, the publication has now reached its ninth edition and includes 47 new courses for 2008.
Many of the locations featured for the first time are in eastern European countries such as Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic, where a large number of new courses are being created as golf becomes increasingly popular.
"The aim of this book remains first and foremost to introduce as many people as possible to the cream of European golf courses," a statement from publisher Editions Mourgue d''Algue explained.
"With seven million golfers and over 6,000 courses, golf is still Europe''s number one individual sport where the economic stakes are often high."
Although the golf tourism market in Europe remains dominated by resorts in southern Spain and Portugal, Travelgolf.com recently described heading to eastern Europe for golf as "perfect" for more adventurous players.
