A golf course designed by Greg Norman has been named as the venue for the inaugural Dubai World Championship.
Norman''s Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates will host the tournament, which is due to be the final event on the European Tour calendar in 2009, Golf.com reports.
With a first prize of $10 million (£5.06 million), the competition will offer the biggest purse in professional golf and Norman has said that its final four holes will be considered "one of the most challenging and exciting miles of golf" in the world.
The 53-year-old Australian is playing at the Asian Open this week - his first appearance at a tournament event since South Africa in 2007.
Norman''s return to the Asian Open is particularly significant given that last time he played in the tournament he was disqualified for an incorrect drop in the third round.
The Great White Shark will compete against top players such as Taylormade golfer Retief Goosen and Srixon player Henrik Stenson in the event at the Tomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Club.
