Tiger Woods has undergone arthroscopic knee surgery and could miss up to six weeks of golf while he recovers, it has emerged.
The Nike golfer, who came second at the Masters at the weekend, has had two previous operations on his left knee and last underwent the arthroscopic procedure in 2002, the BBC reports.
With the 32-year-old''s recuperation period estimated at four to six weeks, Woods is certain to miss out on defending his title at the Wachovia Championship on May 1st and could also be absent from the Players Championship.
"The upside is that I have been through this process before and know how to handle it," the 13-time Major winner said on his official website.
"I look forward to working through the rehabilitation process and getting back to action as quickly as I can."
Earlier this month, Woods said that he was aiming to clinch the golf Grand Slam by winning all four Majors in one year. However, his attempt faltered at the first hurdle when he was beaten by Trevor Immelman at Augusta last week.
