Golf clubs found in 19% of UK homes

Almost one in five British households now contains a set of golf clubs, according to a new survey.

Research from insurance company LV= shows that 4.7 million homes in the UK have at least one set of golf clubs, equating to approximately 19 per cent of the nation''s properties.

However, the survey also discovered that many people are failing to put their clubs to good use - 50 per cent of the golf equipment found in British homes has not been taken out in the past six months.

Commenting on the findings, the firm encouraged people not to leave their clubs dormant and also to check that all their sporting apparatus is fully insured.

"It''s easy to forget how much it costs to replace sporting equipment such as golf clubs," said LV= spokesperson Emma Holyer.

"People using sports equipment outside of the home should ensure they have personal possessions insurance cover," she added.

Nike was recently rated as the leading manufacturer of golf equipment for stock market investors in a report by The Motley Fool.
