Eagle-eyed golf fans may be able to spot Callaway''s new club technology during the Masters this week.
According to Golf.com, the I-Mix interchangeable shaft system will feature in the bags of Callaway golfers Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els when they tee off at Augusta on Thursday.
With the long Masters course known to have favoured big-hitters over the years, the option of adding a longer shaft to the driver for certain shots could be crucial, as Mickelson explained during his recent press conference.
"The nice thing about [using I-Mix] is I have been able to interchange shafts and put a longer shaft in if I want to get more distance," the world number two said.
Els has also been experimenting with I-Mix technology before the Masters, stating on Tuesday that it benefits his game because "if you don''t like a certain shot, you can pull it out on the range and put another shaft into the head".
According to Callaway''s Jeff Colton, I-Mix allows players to "quickly and easily customise their equipment, every time they play".
