The weather will have an important part to play in determining this year''s Masters champion, it has been claimed.
BBC Sport''s Ken Brown stated in his column this week that wet playing conditions at Augusta will "bring the big hitters to the fore", with powerful players such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Angel Cabrera likely to benefit.
However, drier and warmer weather will cause the greens to get "hard and crusty", bringing a number of other players into contention for Masters glory.
"The course is so long now that if it''s wet, it really is a high ball, long ball-hitters'' paradise," Brown remarked.
Latest weather forecasts indicate that conditions will stay dry tomorrow (April 10th) for the first day of the tournament, but thunderstorms could arrive in Augusta by Friday. Rain is also expected on Saturday, when the temperature is likely to fall and winds pick up to about 20 mph.
The build-up to the first Major of the year continues at Augusta today with the Par 3 Contest.
