Wagner heads to Augusta while Love misses out

Johnson Wagner will play at the Masters this week after winning the Shell Houston Open on Sunday (April 6th).

The US player carded a final round of 71 to finish on 16 under par at Redstone, claiming his first ever PGA Tour victory and a place in the field at Augusta on Thursday.

Cobra golfer Geoff Ogilvy and Nike player Chad Campbell were tied for second place, with both men finishing on 14 under par, although the recent WGC-CA champion Ogilvy hit the better final round with a score of 68.

Speaking about his excitement at making the Masters for the first time, Wagner stated: "I don''t care if I shoot 90 both days and miss the cut.

"I''m so excited to be there and it''s just a dream come true."

Davis Love III did not feature on the leaderboard in Texas and his failure to win the tournament means that the Titleist golfer will not play at Augusta.

Love will miss a Major for the first time since the US Open in 1990 - he has appeared in 70 consecutive Major tournaments, currently the longest run on the Tour.
