Tour heads to Houston for final Masters prep

The Shell Houston Open begins at the Redstone Golf Club tomorrow (April 3rd), with many of the professional tour''s top players looking to fine-tune their game before the Masters next week.

Several world top ten golfers will appear at Redstone this week, with Phil Mickelson, Steve Stricker and KJ Choi all getting some last-minute practice in for the first Major of the year.

For players who have not already qualified to feature at Augusta, playing at the Houston Open carries an additional incentive because victory at the tournament includes an automatic invitation for the Masters.

Defending champion Adam Scott will be hoping that the pinpoint accuracy of his recent putting displays continues at Redstone. If it does, the Titleist golfer could become the second Australian to win the tournament twice, after Stuart Appleby.

Although Scott, Appleby and four of their countrymen have won the Houston Open, no Australian golfer has ever been victorious at the Masters

Greg Norman famously threw away a six-shot lead in the final round at Augusta in 1996, losing out to Nick Faldo.
