Fisher loses out in play-off at Andalucia Open

Oliver Fisher came tantalisingly close to his first European Tour win in Marbella yesterday (March 30th), with Frenchman Thomas Levet eventually claiming the title after a play-off.

The 19-year-old Briton was three shots ahead with six holes left but struggled to keep Levet at bay after hitting two bogeys and finding the water with his tee shot on the 18th.

Defending champion Lee Westwood finished on 13 under par at the Andalucia Open - three strokes behind the top two.

Paying tribute to his challenger afterwards, Levet suggested that Fisher could develop into "the next Nick Faldo" or even match one of the golf world''s most successful figures.

"If he improves on Tour in two or three years he''ll be like Tiger Woods - he''s that good," Levet stated.

Fisher, who is playing as a professional for the second season, commented: "I would have loved to win, but I am sure there will be more chances."

Another British youngster made headlines at the tournament last week, with 20-year-old amateur Danny Willett finishing on six under par for the first round after two eagles in the opening seven holes.
