Playing with Woods ''raises game'', says Casey

19/03/2008

Paul Casey has claimed that playing with world number one Tiger Woods helps him to improve his own game.

The Nike golfer was drawn to play with Woods, also a Nike player, in the WGC-CA Championship in Miami this week, the BBC reports.

Casey is currently the British number five and has previous experience of playing with Woods, having been paired with the American at the Masters last year.

With Woods bidding to defend his WGC-CA title with an eighth straight tournament victory, Casey explained how playing with the champion can improve his own shots, stating: "It raises my game a little - you can feed off his focus and energy.

"He''s great to play with because he compliments you if you hit a good shot."

Casey caused controversy in 2004 when he was quoted as saying that he "hated" Americans in the build-up to the World Cup in Seville, although he later claimed that the comments were taken out of context.
