Mathew Goggin
Residence: Scottsdale, Arizona
DOB: 13/06/1974
His mother, Lindy, is a three-time Australian Amateur champion and introduced her son to the game. Before joining the PGA Tour in 2000 Matthew played on the European Tour in 1998 and tied for 2nd at the Peugeot Open de France. Prior to this he won the 1997 San Paolo Vita Open and the 1996 Dutch Challenge on the European Challenge Tour.
After initial slow start to 2000 rookie season on the PGA Tour, where he missed the cut in 15 of first 17 starts, rebounded with strong second half to finish 117th on the money list and retain his playing privileges. When he lost his PGA Tour card Matthew moved on to the Nationwide Tour. Finished 2004 Nationwide Tour ranked No. 24 on the money list, with $190,785. He regained his PGA Tour playing privileges in 2006.
His best PGA Tour year-end money list finish was in 2008 when he finished in 40th. This finish was thanks to a series of high profile top-10 results. The best of which was a tied for 2nd at the Memorial Tournament. Only a 74 in the final round cost him his first PGA Tour victory. He finished the year with a 3rd place at the Frys.com Open. A pair of 63’s saw him secure a finish inside the top-40 of the money list for the first time.

Mathew Goggin Tournament History
2009 Arnold Palmer Invitational |
26-29 March 2009 - Bay Hill Country Club and Lodge - This week marked the return of the Tiger Woods we all know and love. After 9 months out of action after re-constructive knew surgery - a birdie putt at the 72nd hole saw Tiger win as Bay Hill for a sixth time. Those familiar back-nine heroics and a putt that everyone knew he was going to drain saw the world number 1 come from 5 strokes back on the final day - equalling his career best comeback. This remarkable comeback must have been great to watch apart from the eyes of Sean O’Hair who Woods beat into second place. |
In Mathew Goggin's bag...Damaged caused by an opening round of 75 could not be repaired in time as Matthew missed the cut by 3 strokes. This is more like it. We can clearly see the TaylorMade R9 taking pride of place in the centre of the bag. The Koala head cover is still there but we’re unsure as to the club that is underneath it. The irons are a different story. They are perfectly positioned and as we can see are still the TaylorMade RAC TP MB irons that we snapped him with last year. His TaylorMade RAC Satin TP wedges are still there and it seems a Scotty Cameron putter has been added in the off season.

2008 Arnold Palmer Invitational |
13-16 March - Arnold Palmer Invitational - Bay Hill Club and Lodge. In typical Tiger fashion, the world #1 sank a 24-foot putt on the 72nd hole at Bay Hill for his fifth consecutive win, much to the annoyance of Bart Bryant who was looking for his first win since 2005. This was his biggest challenge since this streak began 7 months ago, Woods outlasted 45-year-old Bart Bryant and won with a birdie putt on the 72nd hole for the first time in 7 years. He turned and slammed his cap to the ground, letting out a roar to celebrate his 64th career victory, tying Ben Hogan at #3 on the PGA Tour career list. |
In Mathew Goggin's bag...An opening round of 75 set the tone for Matthew’s week. He followed this up with an improved level par 70 but still failed to make the cut. Not the easiest photo for identifying what Matthew was using this week. From the head cover we can tell that his driver was a TaylorMade Burner TP. We are informed that under the Koala head cover is a TaylorMade V-Steel fairway. One of his irons is slightly turned towards the lens so we have been able to identify them as TaylorMade RAC MB TP’s.
